The Pouch Works

Pouch type

Spouted Pouches

A spouted pouch is a stand-up pouch with a moulded plastic spout and screw cap welded into the top or corner seal, so a liquid or semi-liquid product can be poured and resealed without decanting. It replaces a rigid bottle at a fraction of the shipping weight and warehouse footprint.

Spouts are specified by neck diameter — 8.6mm for thin liquids and baby food, 10mm to 16mm for sauces and shampoos, and wider fitments for thicker creams and refill packs. Position matters: a corner spout pours controllably at an angle, while a centre-top spout suits squeeze dispensing. Fill can be done hot or cold depending on the laminate, so tell us your product, viscosity and fill temperature and we will match the structure.

Spouted Pouches — common questions

What spout size should I choose?
Match the spout to viscosity. Use 8.6mm for thin, free-flowing liquids like juice, 10–16mm for sauces and shampoos, and a wide-mouth fitment for thick creams or anything with particulates. If you are unsure, tell us the product and we will recommend one.
Can spouted pouches be hot-filled?
Some structures can. Hot fill needs a laminate rated for the fill temperature and a spout moulded from a suitable resin, so it has to be specified up front rather than added later. Include your fill temperature in the spec builder.
Are spouted pouches child-resistant?
Standard caps are not. Child-resistant caps are available as a separate fitment for products that require them, such as some cleaning concentrates and CBD liquids. Flag it in your enquiry and we will quote the CR cap option.
Do you supply the spout fitted or separate?
Fitted. The spout is welded into the seal during conversion, so pouches arrive ready to fill on either a manual bench filler or an automated line.
